Do you want to learn sign language? Then CVO Semper is the right place for you! Our teachers have years of experience and can guide you in a unique way.
The VGT or Flemish Sign Language course covers all aspects of this special language. We deal with fingerplay, lexicon, grammar, teach you how to have a conversation… We also pay attention to deaf culture and history. During the lessons you will also come into contact with a deaf person. There will be a deaf guest speaker and we will also visit a deaf society.
Our course consists of 120 teaching periods spread over a full school year. The lessons are very practical, interactive and stimulate the active use of Flemish Sign Language. You will also have the chance to practice and interact with fellow students.
You start with the training Flemish Sign Language 1, do you want to delve further afterwards? We also offer further training courses: Flemish sign language 2 and VGT 3. During these courses, the skills you have learned in our course will be further expanded. Among other things, you will learn more gestures, grammar and practical exercises to properly apply the sign language.
Belgium has two official languages: Dutch and French. As a result, there are also two sign languages: Flemish Sign Language and French Sign Language, each with its own grammar and vocabulary.
Flemish and Dutch Sign Language are very similar and both are based on the same origin, namely French Sign Language. But both languages have their own grammar and vocabulary.
Sign language is best learned through a professional course where you are taught by an experienced sign language teacher. This way you can improve your pronunciation, vocabulary and sentence structure and communicate more easily with deaf people. Upstairs you will also learn more about deaf culture itself.
