Testimony of Maria, Mathematics Teacher

I wouldn't trade my job for anything in the world.

After having worked for an American company for thirteen years, I finally decided to do what I had always dreamed of: becoming a teacher.
It wasn't a small step, but it felt like the right choice.

After my teacher training, I started teaching at TKO, where I teach Science and Mathematics. I came in with enormous enthusiasm, but also with doubts. I had never worked in Dutch before, a language I only learned later in life, here at CVO Semper. That made it extra exciting.

Teaching, and certainly in TKO, is not easy. Our students have very diverse profiles. Many of them are disillusioned with the education system and carry negative experiences with them. Giving them confidence again, guiding and motivating them takes time, patience and, above all, teamwork.

I wouldn't trade my job for anything in the world.

Moving and proud

The most beautiful moment of the year for me is the graduation ceremony. It is incredibly moving to see our students proud of what they have achieved and to hear them talk about their future plans. Those are moments that make it all worthwhile.

Professionalism of my colleagues

What touches me every day is the professionalism of my colleagues. They dedicate themselves heart and soul to our students. I feel genuinely happy to be part of such a committed and experienced team.
