After 16 years as a manager in childcare, Natalie felt she was ready for something new. She wasn't actively looking, but a vacancy at CVO Semper immediately caught her attention: they were looking for a teacher for the Childcare Worker training program.
“I didn't have a teacher training degree, but my practical experience was solid. So I took my chance.”
And with success: two weeks later she was already standing in front of the class. Exciting, unexpected — but exactly what she needed.
Teaching is more than explaining theory. Nathalie also supervises internships.
“I love that combination. You see students grow, both in the classroom and at their internship placement.”
The past year brought quite a few new challenges, but Nathalie wasn't alone.
“My colleagues helped me get started. Thanks to them, I quickly found my footing.”
To further develop her new role, Nathalie will start a teacher training program next school year via a LIO track. This way, she can combine working and studying.
Being a teacher requires commitment and energy — but it also gives back so much.
“The moments of success of students… that gives me goosebumps. Seeing their growth makes me proud every single day.”
