Prevention and Policy

Creating a safe environment in which people treat each other with respect is essential, particularly in organisations where professionals work daily with young people or vulnerable groups. In this course, you will learn how to recognise, address, and prevent sexual harassment and misconduct by developing a well-thought-out policy. We will provide you with concrete tools and engage interactively using case studies and exercises/activities.
 

Learning Objectives

After this workshop, you will be able to:

Assess and address sexual behaviour effectively.
Respond to sexual harassment and misconduct as both a professional and a bystander.
Have practical guidance to develop a policy on sexuality and integrity within your organisation.
Have knowledge of tools and materials to tackle the issue in a safe and constructive manner.

Target Audience

This workshop is intended for:

  • Professionals in healthcare, education, youth work, and social work who want to contribute to a safe and respectful environment.
  • Teams of 8 to 12 people are ideal, but individual participants are also welcome.
  • No prior knowledge required.

  • Module 1:
    • Assessing sexual behavior
    • Core principles

    • Response guide and materials
  • Module 2:
    • Responding as a bystander
    • Understanding the role of bystanders
    • Tips and techniques for appropriate response
    • Activities for training and awareness-raising
  • Module 3:
    • Developing a policy with Grenswijs.be
    • Establishing a vision and code of conduct
    • Appointing an Integrity Contact Person
    • Guidelines for incident management

Time investment per module

  • Per module: half day of 3 hours, including break.–

Trainer

Bart Vandenbussche is an experienced policy advisor and training facilitator with a strong focus on integrity, equal opportunities, and sexual harassment and misconduct. He combines deep policy knowledge with practical experience in education, healthcare, and youth work.
As a trainer and process supervisor, he knows how to address complex subjects such as diversity and boundary-crossing behaviour in a unifying and accessible way. His style is diplomatic, energetic, and substantively strong, with a sharp focus on impact and collaboration.
