On March 18, 2019, the Royal Decree expanding the scope of nursing responsibilities was published in the Belgian Official Gazette. The changes in this Royal Decree mean that currently registered nursing professionals in Flanders will now be authorized to perform additional tasks, provided they complete a training program of at least 150 effective hours (including classes and internships).

Would you like to take your skills as a healthcare assistant to the next level? Discover our online course in which you will learn 5 additional procedures that are essential in the healthcare sector. You follow the lessons independently and at your own pace through an interactive learning pathway, allowing you to study where and when it suits you best.

What will you learn in this course ?

  • measuring vital parameters: temperature, pulse, blood pressure, respiration, level of consciousness, pail and glucose levels
  • administering medication: orally, via inhalation, rectally, eye drop, ear drop, percutaneous, subcutaneous only for fractionated heparin
  • administering food and fluids orally, also for people with swallowing disorders.
  • manual removal of faecalomas
  • removal and reapplication of bandages and stockings for the prevention and/or treatment of venous disorders

The curriculum consists of several modules:

Delegated nursing procedures: prevention of venous disorders in the lower limbs 10 Lt

How long does the course take?

You complete the course at your own pace.

 

Will I receive a diploma or certificate?

After completing this course you will receive a certificate of attendance.

 

Is there guidance available during the course?

Yes, we provide personalised support. We take learning difficulties into account and respect your pace. We offer opportunities for additional support where needed. You can discuss your progress with the programme supervisor at any time, so adjustments can be made if necessary.

Can I start this course?

  • You have a certificate of Healthcare Professional.
  • Age: To register you must be at least 18 years old. If you turn 18 before 31 December, you can start in September.
  • Language level: Because all subjects are taught in Dutch, you must be proficient in both spoken and written Dutch. As a non-native speaker, you should have obtained a certificate in Dutch, Threshold 4 (B1)
  • ICT (taught in Dutch only): You possess basic ICT skills, and it is helpful if you have access to a computer and an internet connection at home. Please do not hesitate to contact us if this is not the case

How much does the training cost?

You pay max. € 1,50 per lesson hour with a limit of € 300 per semester. Reduction of registration fee is possible. In addition, you pay a contribution per module for the course material (copies, syllabi and/or handbook, possibly activities).

How can I register?

After a personal meeting, we will draw up a trajectory with you. You can then register for the training.
