Building a website with Wordpress

Wordpress is a tool initially developed to create online blogs. Meanwhile, Wordpress has evolved into the most widely used Content Management System (CMS), a system for building websites from a browser environment.

 

Course content

Your website is too important for the image of your company, your association or your hobby project. Take your fate into your own hands and learn to build a professional website with Wordpress!

  • For your website, you obviously need web space. Your teacher will tell you which one is best for you the first lesson and get you started. The first year it will cost you a 40 euros, from subsequent years you will pay a 65 euros a year for hosting.
  • The course starts with the installation of Wordpress and the exploration of the environment you use to create a website.
  • We create a few websites as an exercise to master working in Wordpress.
  • Very soon, you are put to work collecting texts and photo material for your own website. The course teaches you the best way to go about this and what to take into account. 
  • We learn to install a nice design in Wordpress for our website or webshop and adapt it to our own preferences.
  • We learn to install the necessary plugins in Wordpress to make our website more interactive.
  • Making a website is one thing, but of course you also want to be found by search engines. In this course, we go into search engine optimisation (SEO) in detail.
  • At the end of the course, you will have a working website for your own project!

To take this course, you must be familiar with basic Windows 11 and Internet operations. If you haven’t done an ICT module at our school yet, we ask you to take this simple online entry test.

The price is composed of:

  • The legal enrolment fee: € 135
    (Subject to a decree amendment. Decree amendments take precedence over the centre regulations.)
  • Course supplies: € 6 (including course material and/or digital material and/or raw materials, ...)

Number of class times: 60 (including evaluation and deliberation)
