Using official and financial services online safely

Every day you read something in the newspaper about individuals losing money through phishing or businesses being hit by hostage software. In this course, we will learn how to safely use online financial and government services. We look in detail at the many online threats, how to recognise and deal with them. Your online privacy is also covered. 

In this course, we will learn all about safe online banking and payments and online government in 11 lessons. We look in detail at possible threats and learn how to respond to them.

  • Most of us already use online banking. But are you doing it in the safest and most efficient way? Have you already paid with your smartphone, online or in a shop?
  • Do you already enter your taxes through taxonweb? But there is much more: track your health records on your smartphone, consult your pension details or the courses you took, request documents online from your municipality, and so on.
  • You do the above by signing up using Itsme. You will learn how to install and use Itsme, allowing you to securely log in to many government services.
  • What is two-factor authentication? How do you use it?
  • What is phishing? What is whaling? How do you recognise it and deal with it? And what do you do if you do get caught? Learn in this course.
  • What are cookies and how do they work? Are they dangerous?
  • And so much more ...

The course focuses on your PC/tablet as well as your smartphone. Indeed, some methods use multiple devices. If you have a smartphone, be sure to bring it to class!

To take this course, you must be familiar with the basic operations of Windows 11 and the internet. If you have not yet taken an ICT module with us, we ask that you take this simple online entry test

  • The legal enrolment fee: € 90
    (Subject to a decree amendment. Decree amendments take precedence over the centre regulations.)
