You speak and write French quite well, but you feel it could be smoother. Your sentences could be clearer, your word choice more precise, your style better. You want to understand films and documentaries, even if the accent you hear isn't what you're used to. You want to understand difficult newspaper articles and opinion pieces, even if you don't know every word in the text. And in terms of subjects, you also want to break away from the beaten path.

This French Effectiveness @combi course is spread over 2 school years. In the first school year, you take part A or part B, and in the following school year, the other part.

You work on your written competencies alternately at home, via our online learning platform (Effectiveness level 2), and on your oral competencies in the classroom (Effectiveness level 1).

Course content

What will you learn?

In this course you will learn

to understand complex documents and texts in detail: articles, reports, speeches, etc. You will work exclusively on the basis of authentic documents and current events.
to master a varied vocabulary in various fields (technology, justice, food, environment, health, consumption, etc.).
to write a wide range of texts: formal or informal emails, reports, summaries, treatises, petitions, critical opinions, comments, etc.
to actively participate in and lead debates on current topics in the classroom. To give oral presentations to your peers on current subjects. Defending your point of view and arguing.
integrating complex grammatical structures into your oral and written practice.

Evaluation takes place continuously via a portfolio system and 4 tests in the classroom.

Entry requirements

To register for this level, you must have a certificate for French 7B Speaking and Listening + Writing and Reading (= French Vantage 1B & 2B).

Do you have this but can't find it anywhere anymore, or do you already know French? Then you can take a short level test at the school's secretariat or on our website. If you score sufficiently on this, you can register for this level.

You do not need to have completed Part 1 to enrol in Part 2 of this module.

For the distance learning section, you must have a PC or laptop with a fast and stable internet connection, a sound card, and possibly a webcam. You must also be sufficiently computer literate.

You are willing to work on the assignments regularly and independently via an online learning platform.
